God called Ray and Tressa Shaw out of their careers in the business world and into full-time ministry in 2001. In 2002, they founded "A Flame for Christ Ministries", and upon the sale of their home in Dallas, Texas they moved to West Virginia in September 2002. In February 2015 the ministry had grown and diversified to the point the board of Directors decided to change the Ministry name to the LightHouse of Hope Ministries which described the multifaceted ministry more clearly.
Motivated by Matthew 28:19-20, The LightHouse of Hope Ministry is a Discipling Ministry: Proclaiming the Good News of Jesus Christ; Teaching the precepts of His Word -- the Bible; and Mentoring what it means to Live in a Love Relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ. True Discipleship encourages and leads the Christian to a life of intimacy with the Living Lord -- evidenced by an effectual, fervent prayer life; immersion in and obedience to the Word of God; and a faith-filled walk of absolute surrender to Christ that is empowered by the indwelling Holy Spirit.
The heartbeat of LHOH Ministries is to Disciple God's people to a Living, Love Relationship with Christ focusing on:
- Bible Study
- Dying to Self
The goal of LHOH Ministries is to multiply trained Lay People within the Local Church so they are able to exhort the Body of Christ into becoming life long, dedicated disciples who are living on fire in a love relationship with Jesus Christ

Transforming the Local Church by fueling the fire of Living Faith - Transforming her into a Shining Light filled with the Holy Spirit
LHOH's Statement of Faith:
The Bible, both the Old and New Testaments, are verbally and fully inspired by God, inerrant, and is our supreme and final authority in faith and life.
There is one true God, eternally existing in three distinct persons - Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
Jesus Christ is God, who became flesh, was miraculously conceived by the Holy Spirit and was born of the Virgin Mary; He is true God united with true humanity in one person forever - the infinite God-Man, Jesus Christ.
Human beings are created by God and in the image of God. The first man, Adam, sinned by disobeying God, therefore, incurred not only physical death but spiritual death, which is separation from God; this historic fall caused all human beings to be born with a sinful nature, totally unable to please God.
Jesus Christ lived a sinless life and voluntarily died on the cross to atone for the sin of human beings, therefore satisfying divine justice and accomplishing salvation for all who trust in Him alone; He was buried, arose from the grave and ascended into heaven and is currently at the right hand of God the Father where He is the only mediator between God and human beings.
Salvation is a free gift, only by God's grace, and not by any human works, goodness, or religion. God's righteousness is only available to human beings who place their faith and only hope for eternal salvation from their sin in the finished work of the shed blood of the Lord Jesus Christ on the cross.
All who believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and call upon His name and are regenerated-Born Again and become children of God and heirs of eternal life, spending eternity in heaven.
Every believer has direct access to God through the Lord Jesus Christ.
The Holy Spirit's work is to reveal and glorify Christ; convict human beings of their sin - righteousness - judgment; draw them to Christ, impart new life to them, and continuously indwell them from the moment of their spiritual birth as their divine Helper, Comforter, Assistant, Counselor, Guide and Instructor. The gifts of the Holy Spirit are still present in the church today.
Every believer is called to live in the power of the Holy Spirit, therefore, enabling them to live a Godly life bearing much fruit.
Baptism is by immersion after salvation and is done in obedience to the Lord Jesus Christ's command.
At physical death, the believer enters immediately into an eternal, conscious presence with the Lord; at physical death, the unbeliever enters immediately into an eternal, conscious separation from the Lord and awaits everlasting punishment.
Jesus Christ is the Head of the Church, His Body, which is composed of all believers who have joined to Him through saving faith.
Every believer's mission is to proclaim the Gospel throughout the world and to make disciples of every nation.
It is the Lord's desire that every believer have an intimate, personal relationship with Him. This relationship is developed and strengthened through Prayer, through the continuous study of His Word, and through complete obedience to His commands by dying to self and complete surrender to the Holy Spirit's leading.
Jesus Christ, our Blessed Hope, will literally return to the earth - personally, visibly and boldly - to complete the eternal plan of God.
